Fans are already excited for the upcoming anime, and it seems that’s not all there is to look forward to. That’s because a live-action Solo Leveling series has been confirmed to be in development.

In an interview with French outfit Linternaute, D&C Webtoon creative director Heaeun Kwak revealed that a live-action adaptation of the hit manhwa is in development.

It may have been revealed in a French interview, but the series is confirmed to be a Korean production, meaning it is all but confirmed to be in Korean. This is unlike the highly anticipated anime adaptation.

It’s fair to call Solo Leveling by Chugong and DUBU one of the most popular modern manhwa (the Korean equivalent of manga). This is thanks to its impressive artwork and gripping story.

Given its popularity, the series has long been rumored to get an animated series adaptation. This came true back in 2022 as an anime adaptation was confirmed to be in the works.

Specifically, the upcoming anime is being made by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind hit titles such as Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Lycoris Recoil, and Mashle, among others.

It may have been announced way back in July 2022, but fans must wait a bit longer for it to get released as its premiere is scheduled for January 2024.

Even though the wait is a bit longer than expected, fans will at least be happy to know that it will be officially streamed with English subs on Crunchyroll.

Instead of being satisfied with the upcoming anime, Solo Leveling publisher D&C Webtoon is keen on expanding the franchise with a live-action adaptation.

In the interview with Linternaute, Heaeun Kwak mentioned that a Korean live-action adaptation is in the planning stages. While this means it’ll be a while before we see a trailer, it should still be exciting news for fans.

Solo Leveling getting a live-action show is no surprise given how lots of anime and manga have been getting the live-action treatment recently.

Based on the manhwa’s popularity, Solo Leveling’s live-action adaptation has the potential to become a huge hit to the level of Netflix’s One Piece and Alice in Borderland. That is, of course, if the adaptation is good.

For now, there’s no word yet on a target release date or any other details for the live-action adaptation.
