Solo: A Star Wars Story Co-Writer Urges Fans to Keep Asking for 'Underworld' Star Wars Films

Solo: A Star Wars Story has been making headlines since its release, but not in a sense that Lucasfilm would be happy about. The film has underperformed during its opening weekend, and everyone online has been scratching their heads as to why that is. Co-writer Jon Kasdan has something to say about all the negativity though, and urges fans to stay positive when it comes to the smaller, "underworld" movies of Star Wars.

He posted up this tweet:

Despite some negative reactions from critics and fans, there has definitely been some positive feedback on the movie. For one, kids love Solo, and a lot of people agree that the movie feels like classic Star Wars. With the Boba Fett movie being announced last week, I can't help but think that it will be some kind of loose sequel that this film has built up to.

As for why the movie underperformed, there are several factors being considered as to why. For one, it's the third of a slew of blockbuster movies that include Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2; a lot of audience members only keep a certain budget for movies every month. Another reason was the dismal marketing for the film. By the time the movie came out, a lot of people didn't even know that Solo had anything to do with Star Wars.

Personally, I loved the film, and I'm really hoping that Lucasfilm will try out more of these smaller, self-contained stories. Alden Ehrenreich was an amazing Han Solo, and I would love to see more of him in the long run.
