Solo A Star Wars Story: A Closer Look at the Falcon Before and After the Kessell Run

Solo: A Star Wars Story may have started with a brand new Millennium Falcon, but by the end of the film, it got pretty banged up thanks to the Kessell Run. Thanks to Star Wars Underworld, we have a better look at the Falcon before and after the run, and we see just how many alterations were made before it became the ship that we all know and love.

Check it out:

If we can list down what was lost, you can see that the satellite dish was once again removed, as well as the turret on the top. Probably the most distinct difference is the escape pod from the front; after it was lost, we got the signature mandibles of the YT-1300 freighter. Several panels have also come off, and if you're familiar with Han's Falcon, you'll know that the top also has a lot of gaps that were never filled out.

If you read the novelization, it was said that Han immediately fell in love with the ship when he saw it, but he thought it lacked a more personal touch when he saw how Lando kept it. Then again, Lando was all about wooing people into his pad—Han was more about the flying.

Granted we'll be seeing more of the Falcon in future Star Wars films, the next one being Episode IX. And though the movie underperformed, I hope we see it again for a sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Catch the Falcon return in Star Wars Episode IX which comes out Dec. 20, 2019.
