While the studio is still busy with Skip and Loafer, P.A. Works recently announced the release of its upcoming original anime film titled Komada - A Whisky Family.
This upcoming film was revealed recently via the studio’s official social media pages. There, details about the anime were revealed alongside the first key visual and trailer.
What’s more, this movie will be screened at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2023 in France.
P.A. Works Continues Its ‘Working Series’ Anime
P.A. Works is a studio that has worked on anime adaptations of popular manga and games such as the recent Skip and Loafer, the viral Ya Boy Kongming!, and the first season of Uma Musume.
Though the studio is also well-known for its original anime works.
Just last season, the studio released Buddy Daddies, an original anime series. In Fall 2022 meanwhile, the original IP Akiba Maid War was released.
Perhaps the studio’s best-known original works though are the titles in its “Working Series.”
As the name implies, the Working Series features anime with the theme of working in a certain field.
For instance, there’s the popular anime series Shirobako which follows a group of four best friends who become anime industry professionals.
Other anime in this series includes Hanasaku Iroha which is about a young girl who works in a hot spring inn owned by her grandmother.
There’s also The Aquatope on White Sand which follows two girls who work in an aquarium located in Okinawa.
The latest in this series is Komada - A Whisky Family. But unlike the previous titles which are TV anime, this upcoming project is a movie.

Komada - A Whisky Family Details, Release Date
As the title implies, the film follows Rui Komada, the president of her family’s whisky distillery.
The film shows her struggles to recreate their distillery’s signature whisky through the eyes of Kotaro Takahashi, a reporter.
The film also features a stacked voice cast, including popular VAs such as Saori Hayami (Yor Forger in Spy x Family), Kensho Ono (Giorno Giovanna in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), and Maaya Uchida (Angel Devil in Chainsaw Man).
Komada is confirmed to screen at the upcoming Annecy Film Festival in June 2023. It will then be released in Japan sometime in November 2023.
Currently, there’s no word yet on an international release date.
