As part of its interview series, Animate Times shared another interview for Skip and Loafer, this time with Mika Egashira VA Yuka Terasaki.
In the interview, Terasaki shared some interesting stories about her experience during the anime’s voice recording sessions, including how there was a wholesome high school vibe that reflected the show’s mood.
Terasaki also explained what she thought of Skip and Loafer’s story, as well as what makes her character, Mika Egashira, compelling to follow.

The high school romance genre in anime is one of the most popular. In fact, it’s nearly impossible to look for an anime season without a school romance show.
But Skip and Loafer is not your average high school anime. Sure, its premise may seem straight out of your average shojo show, but the anime is actually based on a seinen manga, meaning it has a bit more depth to it.
Specifically, fans have praised the show’s realistic depiction of its high school characters. This was also one of the main things that made the series appealing to Terasaki.
She mentioned in the interview that she read the manga during the audition.
Terasaki remarked that the series depicted adolescent relationships realistically and that it was a “manga full of real youth.”
Terasaki also mentioned that Mika is a compelling character because she is self-conscious about her appearance; something she believes is relatable to many viewers.

Yuka Terasaki Shares Wholesome Recording Story
Along with the show’s appeal, Terasaki also recounted how fun the recording sessions were for the anime and how they had a school-like atmosphere.
According to Terasaki, many anime recordings are done separately, so she often leaves as soon as the recording is over. But that is not the case with Skip and Loafer.
It turns out that many cast members stayed even after their recording was done so they can talk with their fellow VAs.
The cast even made a Line group chat to plan get-togethers.
There was one particular time when cast members planned a surprise birthday party for Terasaki and Shima VA Akinori Egoshi as they both had the same birth month.
While not directly related to the anime, Terasaki’s story of the recording sessions’ school-like atmosphere may have helped the cast deliver more realistic performances.
