SHINHWA Hyesung dug his own grave after committing several offenses amid his DUI incident investigation.

On October 11, Korean media outlets confirmed that Hyesung was arrested after he was found sleeping inside a stolen car while under the influence of alcohol. The authorities asked him to undergo a breathalyzer test, but he refused to do so, leading to his arrest.

Although he offered statements regarding the incident, the police found out he gave false statements amid the probe.

SHINHWA Hyesung's Statement Incorrect + Idol Issues Apology

Hyesung's legal representatives issued a statement correcting the message his agency, Liveworks Company, shared.

In the initial statement, the agency said the idol had a meeting at a restaurant in the Gangnam district. He reportedly consumed alcohol and got car keys from a valet attendant.

It turned out that the information in the statement was inaccurate.

"During the process of releasing an official statement, [Hyesung] had already been arrested, and acquaintances [of Hyesung] who were present at the time had memories that were unclear. As a result, inaccurate information was released, and we deeply apologize for this," Hyesung's legal representatives said, per AllKpop.

He underwent further investigation following the incident and reportedly started reflecting on what he did.

Hyesung Contradicts Restaurant, Vehicle Owner's Statements

The erratum came out after YTN released a report regarding the contradicting statements Hyesung and the car owner gave to the police.

The K-pop idol said he left with the car after receiving the key from the restaurant's valet. He then mistook it for his car and drove off without checking.

Meanwhile, the car owner said it is highly unlikely he would mistake it as his vehicle since their cars are different models. The restaurant, on the other hand, dismissed his claims that they provided him with the keys.

It added that no valet was already working at the restaurant at the time of his arrival and departure.

The police are still investigating the matter. No charges have been served yet.
