She-Hulk Creator Describes Crossover with Wong as "The Best Pairing in The Entire MCU"

Aside from Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, or widely known as the raged titular heroine in Disney+'s latest series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Marvel fans are also anticipating some of the awaited return of several MCU characters like Bruce Banner, Matt Murdock, and Doctor Strange's fan-beloved companion, Wong.

As the new sorcerer supreme, Wong now plays a prominent part in the MCU's Phase 4 and the subsequent phases. Now that he is confirmed to return in She-Hulk, fans are wondering what role he could possibly play alongside the MCU newcomer. Thankfully, the Disney+ show's creator finally sheds some light on his role.

In an interview with Geeks of Color, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law creator Jessica Gao teased that the show's upcoming Episode 4 would certainly be a fan favorite due to She-Hulk's hilarious yet humane crossover with Wong. According to her, She-Hulk and Wong's pairing is "the best pairing in the entire MCU." See Gao's full quote below:

"Oh, there's so many episodes. I mean, I loved all the episodes, and there’s so many really special ones. I mean, episode 4, I think, is gonna be a fan favorite of everybody’s, just because, you know, we get to see Wong in such a new light, but we also get to pair him with probably I think the best pairing in the entire MCU. There’s some upcoming episodes that feel kind of like bottle-ish episodes, where you really kind of focus on this one story, and we deal with things that you just haven’t seen any superheroes deal with, that feel very human and part of normal life that I’m very excited to show. I love that we get to kind of go into areas of regular human life, but with the superhero because we actually have the space to do that, as opposed to the movies, where it's always about saving the universe, you know."

Is Wong The MCU's New Nick Fury?

There's no denying that Wong's character arc was the most eventful compared to other MCU characters after he appeared in some of Phase 4's substantial films like Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jokingly, Wong claims that he is now the MCU's next Nick Fury, as he told Empire Magazine:

"I call it Phase Wong. It's a nice, interesting shift. Wong has taken on a new role, and that dynamic changes between them [Wong and Strange] both." It's worth noting that Wong is now the sorcerer supreme after Doctor Strange was wiped out from Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War, and with Wong's many appearances in several films, he is indeed the Nick Fury of this phase.
