Shazam!'s Mark Strong Talks the Original Plans for His Sinestro

The 2011's Green Lantern may have bombed, but arguably one of the best elements of that film is Mark Strong's villain Sinestro. Strong is now playing the villain for the upcoming Shazam! movie and he talks a bit about the original plans for his Yellow Lantern.

Talking to ScreenRant, Strong shares:

"You know, my version of Sinestro I think is going to be rebooted, as they say. No doubt when the new Green Lantern comes out, which I think they're doing. But as I said and I mean it, I felt really... it was a little interrupted. Because Sinestro was going to go into the second movie and become the yellow Sinestro that we know and love, and cause havoc. It got cut short by the fact that they never made a second movie of that particular incarnation of Green Lantern and Sinestro. But thankfully, I've now got a chance to... maybe 'exercise my evil credentials' with Doctor Sivana."

There had been news of a Green Lantern Corps film in the works, but ever since Justice League, it seems like the film has been put on the backburner. With Aquaman coming out as a huge win for WB though, we may get a bit more traction on some other DC projects—including a new Green Lantern film.

Rumors had come out that GLC was going to be a sort of "buddy cop" movie with seasoned Lantern Hal Jordan showing newbie Jon Stewart the ropes. There was some talk of Tom Cruise being courted for the role of Jordan, but news for the film has gone quiet, and it looks like Cruise is out.

We don't know when Green Lantern Corps comes out, but hopefully, we get an update before the year ends.

Catch Stong in Shazam! when it hits theaters April 5.
