Shazam! Director Reveals Subtle Suicide Squad Easter Egg in the Movie

Shazam! has managed to enjoy some success, thanks to a fairly light tone, good humor, and a lot of heart. While not the best superhero movie - not even the best DC film - it did present a positive step forward for the DCEU and we can't wait to see what comes next. While the film was fairly self-contained, director David F. Sandberg revealed something interesting; it has a subtle reference to Suicide Squad.

During the director's commentary in Shazam!'s Blu-Ray and DVD, Sandberg revealed that the scene in the Ace Chemicals building where Billy was practicing his powers was shot in the same place that Suicide Squad shot the scene where Harley and Joker made out in..well, Ace Chemicals. It's nice to see Sandberg keep the continuity together and something fans will find neat.

Aside from this, Shazam! does also reference Superman existing. The ending had Superman having lunch with Billy and Freddie, though they never showed his face. It's a shame that they didn't have Henry Cavill in the role but it seems like his future as the Man of Steel might be in jeopardy.

Fans interested in Sandberg's commentary and more can pick up the Shazam! Blu-Ray and DVD right now.
