Shangri-La Frontier started as a web novel series in 2017 before it received a manga adaptation in 2020.
The web novel was written by Katarina and became very popular online. It then got a manga adaptation illustrated by Ryosuke Fuji.
Now, Shangri-La Frontier has an anime adaptation, and here’s what we know about its episode count!

What Is Shangri-La Frontier About?
Shangri-La Frontier is set in the near future where full-dive VR games have become common.
The story follows Rakuro Hizutome, a skilled gamer who seeks out “trash games” and aims to master them. One day, he tries out a popular VR game called Shangri-La Frontier.
Rakuro then realizes that Shangri-La Frontier has a complex world and is not like other games he has played before.
He forms a team with other players and works with them to overcome the challenges in the game. Rakuro also aims to uncover the secrets that Shangri-La Frontier hides.
The synopsis for Shangri-La Frontier, as provided by Crunchyroll, reads:
"When was the last time I played a game that wasn't crap?" This is a world in the near future where games that use display screens are classified as retro.
Anything that can't keep up with state-of-the-art VR technology is called a "crap game," and you see a large number of crap games coming out.
Those who devote their lives to clearing these games are called "crap-game hunters," and Rakuro Hizutome is one of them.
The game he's chosen to tackle next is Shangri-La Frontier, a "god-tier game" that has a total of thirty million players. Online friends... An expansive world... Encounters with rivals... These are changing Rakuro and all the other players' fates!

How Many Episodes Will Shangri-La Frontier Have?
Shangri-La Frontier will have a total of 25 episodes, running for two consecutive seasons (two cours) from Fall 2023 to Winter 2024. New episodes are released every Sunday.
The episode count was confirmed by the Blu-ray and DVD announcements on Shangri-La Frontier's official website. Two volumes will be released in 2024.
The first volume, which will include Episodes 1-13, will be released on March 27, 2024. The second volume will include Episodes 14-25 and will be released on June 26, 2024.
Shangri-La Frontier is available to stream on Crunchyroll. Last September, Crunchyroll revealed that Shangri-La Frontier is among the Fall 2023 anime that will be getting an English dub.
The English dub of the first episode premiered on Crunchyroll on October 15, 2023.
