Shang-Chi's Simu Liu Says Coronavirus is Not a Reason to Bully Asians

Getting cast as a superhero in a film doesn't just stop on the screen. Studios actually expect you to behave off camera as well; and with Simu Liu getting cast as the lead of Marvel's Shang-Chi film, he's decided to go online to comment about the new wave of racism coming to the internet thanks to the New Coronavirus.

This is his post:

It's not really saying much, but it does make a valid point of what's been happening since the outbreak. Besides the memes, a lot of Asians have reported being bullied because of the virus, and some are even refused restaurant service in fear of the disease spreading.

I have to say, Liu has been treating his casting in Shang-Chi with real class, and I can't wait to see how he really does when the movie finally comes out. If anything, it's probably going to be as big as Black Panther, but it's possible it could make some big money in China because the Chinese box office market is where a lot of the money is.

For now, the plot for Shang-Chi is still unknown, but the movie is going to present us with the real Mandarin, the fake one being an antagonist in Iron Man 3. Personally, I hope the movie manages to bring Ben Kingsley back. Though I didn't love the direction they went with the movie, Kingsley was a hoot, and I want to see him come back in the universe after all these years.

Catch Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings when it comes out Feb. 12, 2021.
