Shang-Chi Sees the Return of Sir Ben Kingsley to the MCU


Avid MCU fans who may remember Sir Ben Kingsley's controversial character of Trevor Slattery, seen in 2013's Iron Man 3. Kingsley was initially believed to be playing The Mandarin, which serves as the terrifying leader of the Ten Rings; he was revealed as a fraud throughout the course of the film.

While some fans enjoyed the subversion, many found the bait-and-switch to be disappointing. Kingsley confirmed that he is going to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Kingsley showed up at the red carpet premiere of Marvel's latest film.

While it's unconfirmed whether Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings or if he will play another character, the truth is that the actor will return to the MCU. Slattery was last seen in Marvel Studio's All Hail The King, which was a 1 Shot that appeared on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray. An agent at Ten Rings organization breaks Slattery out of prison, saying that he was sent by the Mandarin.


Aside from the potential return of Trevor Slattery, Shang-Chi will have several MCU characters coming back to action. Tim Roth's Abomination was revealed in one of the trailers. Benedict Wong will reprise his role as Wong, who was most notably seen in Doctor Strange.


Fans Kingsley will no longer have to wait for too long to see back on screen. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released on September 3. The newest Marvel blockbuster will remain in theaters for 45 days before going to Disney+.
