Shang-Chi Returns With a Brand-New Series and Look

Shang-Chi is about to become a household name as the character's MCU debut looms near. To jump in on the hype, like they always do, Marvel Comics has announced a new five-issue series simply called Shang-Chi, which will also introduce a new look for the classic character created by renowned artist Jim Cheung. The series looks pretty promising and not just because a movie is coming out soon but due to the creators involved.

According to Marvel.com, Eisner Award-winning Gene Luen Yang will be writing the series while artists Dike Ruan and Philip Tan illustrate the visuals. Yang is a pretty big name in the comic book industry, with his graphic novel American Born Chinese getting a nomination for the National Book Award. American Born Chinese was the first time a graphic novel was ever nominated for the National Book Award, which means Shang-Chi is in good hands.

Like most superheroes, Shang-Chi's past has come back to haunt him and not in the way he thinks. His father was a big-time supervillain and though he's been defeated, the villain had more kids who weren't Shang-Chi and the street-based character is going to have his hands full when they come to attack him.

Not gonna lie, that's pretty cool.

Shang-Chi #1 (of 5) will be coming out this June.
