Sex Education Season 4 is the final season of the series. In a letter to fans, Laurie Nunn, creator of the show, said, “This was not an easy decision to make, but as the themes and stories of the new season crystallised, it became clear that this was the right time to graduate.”

She also shared with Tudum that “during that process, it just started to feel very clear that the stories were coming to an end, the characters were being left in a place that I felt really good about it. I felt happy for them, and I felt like I’ve said everything that I want to say with these characters at this time.”

Additionally, main cast members Emma Mackey and Ncuti Gatwa revealed that they would not be returning for a Sex Education Season 5 as they both already said goodbye to their characters.

So, it is clear that there will be no Sex Education Season 5.

When asked if this will be the last time we will be seeing Moordale and all the characters, Nunn did not rule out the potential of a spin-off. She shared with Tudum:

“I’m definitely taking a break and thinking about other things. But Moordale is a really rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun. So, I think that there’s always potential for more to be explored in that world.”

Additionally, Asa Butterfield, who plays Otis Milburn in the series, told Cosmopolitan UK in September 2021 that he would be open to a Sex Education spin-off:

“A spin-off would be good but it has to be well-thought out and really unique and not just for the sake of doing a spin-off."

As of writing, there are no official announcements yet regarding a Sex Education spin-off, but at least we can hope for one to happen. So, stay tuned for more updates! Check here for updates on Sex Education.

The official synopsis for Sex Education Season 4 reads:

Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier - their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College.
Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students - they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level.
There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being… kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal.
Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A-Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the US, Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy.
Otis is pining after her, whilst adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus…
