Sex Education fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as two major parts of the series, actor Ncuti Gatwa and creator Laurie Nunn, are confirmed to return to Sex Education Season 4.

With the number of stars who have revealed their exits from Sex Education Season 4, viewers cannot help but get worried about some of the series' characters. Thankfully, they will see more of Gatwa in the series despite his role as the new Doctor Who.

Ncuti Gatwa, Laurie Nunn Confirm Return to Sex Education Season 4

Variety confirmed the return of Gatwa in Sex Education Season 4 to reprise his role as Otis’ (Asa Butterfield) BFF Eric Effiong.

The show’s creator, writer and executive producer Nunn would also be back to do the fourth season of the series.

Many thought Gatwa would also leave the show after being cast as the new Doctor Who before the BAFTA TV awards in May.

The upcoming new season of the iconic British sci-fi show is now filming in Wales. It will be written by It’s a Sin showrunner Russell T. Davies, who rebooted the show in 2003 after its seven-year hiatus.

Thankfully, “some canny scheduling” gave the 29-year-old star a chance to appear in the two series. Sex Education Season 4 is set to start its production this fall.

Aside from Sex Education and Doctor Who, Gatwa will also be part of the highly-anticipated Barbie movie, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken.

Sex Education Season 4 Character Exits

Sex Education Season 4 sees major stars exiting one after another; the latest is Rakhee Thakrar.

She played the role of English Teacher Emily Sands in the past three seasons and it was already the last time fans saw her in the series.

The Radio Times U.K. broke the news about Thakrar’s departure from the show, as confirmed by an interview with The Daily Star.

However, the actress didn’t reveal the reason for her exit.

She said,

"I'm not part of the new series. I can't really talk about why. But I'm so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education."

Simone Ashley, Patricia Allison and Tanya Reynolds also earlier revealed they wouldn’t be part of Sex Education Season 4.

Reynolds told Digital Spy her role as Lily had officially wrapped up her storyline in the third season, so she didn’t have to return to tie up some loose ends.

She explained,

“She had quite a happy ending. At the end of last season, everyone kind of gets scattered, and I think that's just a good opportunity to bring in some new characters. I absolutely will miss [her]. I love, love Lily with my whole entire being and I had the best time on those three seasons, and I will miss it for sure."

Allison also confirmed she wouldn’t return to Sex Education Season 4, saying,

"I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much and playing Ola. But unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for season four. Some other opportunities have come up, so – I've been doing it for three years and I've genuinely loved it."

Lastly, Ashley said she’s now a Bridgerton girl, so she would no longer be part of the series.
