Batman: Year One Easter Egg Neatly Shown in Carmine Falcone Set Photo

While he isn't the most unique villain, Carmine Falcone has always been an adversary of the Batman, and he's going to be played by John Turturro in Matt Reeves' upcoming solo film. What's great is, some new set photos have confirmed a neat Easter Egg harkening back to Batman: Year One.

As it turns out, Falcone in The Batman is going to be sporting the scars that Catwoman gave him in the comics. Check it out here.

Seeing that the photos have Falcone with Selina Kyle on his arm, it would make sense to think that Falcone has no idea that Kyle is Catwoman. I can imagine that Kyle is getting close to Falcone, while at the same time robbing him blind. Hopefully one of Gotham's most infamous gang leaders can put up a fight though.

Admittedly, Carmine Falcone is kind of a plot device in the sense that he's a generic gang leader who is usually killed/hurt to emphasize how dangerous the ‘real' villain of the movie is. With John Turturro cast though, I'm hoping that Matt Reeves has something more interesting in mind for the character. Then again, I'm alright with him just being comic relief. With Penguin, the Riddler, and Catwoman already in this film, Falcone will have to set himself apart somehow.

With a new 2022 release date, we'll likely have to wait till the halfway point of 2021 before we can see any new previews. Hopefully, DC will have some other stuff to keep fans distracted like Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max.

For now, The Batman is set to come out on March 4, 2022.
