Fans would have to wait a little longer for Black Widow to hit theaters since it has been delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, more details about the upcoming film are slowly coming out, including a comment from Scarlett Johansson which hints at Black Widow's difference in tone compared to other MCU movies.

In a recent interview with Total Film magazine, Johansson praised Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for making the film completely surprising and different when it comes to its tone, with Black Widow having more of a family drama angle. "I think part of Kevin Feige's genius is that he always thinks about what fans expect out of these films," she said. "And then gives them something that they never could've dreamed of."

Johansson says the idea of her character, Natasha Romanoff, in a family drama "is the least expected thing." She even had to wrap her head around what's to come in the film because "there's such a big tonal shift" from what she is used to in playing the character in Marvel movies.

Black Widow will explore Natasha's past and will focus on reuniting with her family and dealing with her history with the Red Room. Johansson says when they were talking about what the standalone film would be all about, they weren't afraid to "really dig deep and be brave and go there."

Originally set to arrive in May, Black Widow is currently delayed and is yet to have a new official release date.
