Scarlett Johansson Promises ‘Deeper’ Message in Black Widow Movie

Black Widow might be another comic book movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that doesn't mean that the film is just going to be another cheap popcorn flick.

Speaking in an interview with Parade to help add to the hype for her upcoming standalone movie, Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson promised a "deeper" message from the film, saying that the film would be much heavier than previous entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"It's a film very much about self-forgiveness and accepting decisions that were made for you. It's much deeper than anything we could have done earlier," the Avengers: Endgame star said in her discussion with the entertainment news outlet.

It's interesting to hear that Black Widow is going to dig deeper than other movies offered in Marvel's roster of films. Sure, Marvel may explore important themes about family and humanity in its films, however, the MCU does tend to rely on levity to be any serious.

Maybe Black Widow is going to be much more serious than its predecessors.

There's a lot of excitement building up over Black Widow. The first film in Phase 4 of the MCU, Black Widow will allow fans to spend more time with Natasha Romanoff after the sacrifice that the Avenger made in Avengers: Endgame.

Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Johannson's Black Widow movie will see Natasha Romanoff reconnecting with old Russian allies. It's going to be exciting seeing more of Natasha's backstory.

Black Widow is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
