Post-credit scenes have become even more prominent nowadays, past the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest franchise gimmick.

Considering this is usually what MCU fans wait around for at the end of their movies (and series), even the Saw franchise has taken this into account to tease a potential Saw XI coming to fruition.

So if you’re wondering if Saw X does have a post-credit scene, here’s what you need to know.

After what seemingly has ended Tobin Bell’s returning performance as John Kramer alongside apprentice Shawnee Smith’s Amanda Young, the story of Saw X didn’t necessarily end there.

Seeing as the Saw franchise timeline is not a completely straight line, the events of Saw X happen between the first Saw film and Saw II, indicating that this was just the beginning of the Jigsaw killer’s journey of setting up his infamous traps on his victims.

That said, the post-credit scene of Saw X actually shows up in the mid-credit scene. The film sees John walking into the iconic bathroom, aka the original Saw room, where he’s off to his next game.

The scene held two surprising elements: apart from John having Henry Kessler (Michael Beach) chained up in the said bathroom, the sequence also brought back Detective Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) into the franchise.

As if Amanda’s comeback in Saw X wasn’t enough, with Hoffman right back in the picture could possibly tease that this won’t be the last time we’ll see him alongside the Jigsaw killer.

As previously mentioned, the Saw franchise doesn’t exactly have its events arranged in chronological order.

The timeline is that since John Kramer died as a part of the trap game he set up in Saw III, Saw X saw to it that we got the prequel we wanted to see in his earliest days before fully claiming his notorious reputation as the Jigsaw killer.

Now, since Saw X brought Amanda and Hoffman together again as John’s apprentices, there’s a slight chance that Saw XI could happen — as it could unravel what happened between Saw II and Saw III this time.

Although it is difficult to pinpoint if this will actually come to fruition, Saw X director Kevin Greutert had one condition before seeing Saw XI make its big screen debut (via GamesRadar):

“There’s no obvious new direction to go after this film. But I think there probably will be more Saw movies, particularly if this one is successful.”

After all, the Saw X producer Mark Burg previously admitted regretting killing Tobin Bell as early as Saw III, so if Saw X does find success, this could be the next big opportunity they’ve been waiting for.
