Sabikui Bisco or Rust-Eater Bisco is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan where the nation is suffering from the effects of the Rusting, contributing to the decay of people and cities. Akaboshi Bisco, known as the "Man-Eating Mushroom," is an infamous wanted criminal. Despite the public believing that Bisco is causing chaos, in reality, he's actually growing mushrooms everywhere so these can consume the rust and bring the country back to normal.
Bisco is on the search for a legendary mushroom called the Rust-Eater, which can consume any type of rust. On his journey, he ends up becoming partners with Nekoyanagi Milo, a doctor from the city. Through the Rust-Eater mushroom, they aim to save the lives of two important people in their lives — Jabi, Bisco's mentor, and Pawoo, Milo's older sister.
