Actor Ryan Reynolds has finally explained why he has decided to take a break from making movies. The “Deadpool” actor previously said that he plans to take a “little sabbatical” after he wraps up the filming of his latest holiday film, “Spirited.”
During an interview at the sidelines of the Wall Street Journal Magazine Innovator Awards, Reynolds explained that he simply wants to distance himself away from Hollywood to create a “little bit more space” for his family, namely his wife Blake Lively and their three daughters.

Reynolds went on to say that he wants to spend more time with them, time that he says you don’t really get back. Reports of his “little sabbatical” emerged after the actor published a post on Instagram last month, stating that he may not be ready to accept any other project after wrapping up filming for his Apple TV+ film.
In his post, Reynolds said “singing, dancing, and playing in the sandbox” with Will Ferrell was definitely a dream come true but he might not be ready just yet to say yes to another movie.
Ryan recently concluded months of filming on his movie with Ferrell, which is set to be released next year. Given everything else on his plate, it's understandable that he would want to take a break. Due to his many responsibilities, he has spoken about his anxiety. In his WSJ speech, Reynolds also mentioned his anxiety.
Building His Business Empire
Reynolds clarified that even if he will not be accepting any new acting gigs anytime soon, he will still be working on his other projects. This includes work on his various companies, namely Aviation Gin, Maximum Effort Marketing, Wrexham AFC, and Mint Mobile.

The actor said that it was important for him to always show up at those companies and to always have “skin in the game.” Reynolds said he will likely be away from shooting any new films until the end of the summer.
Recognized As WSJ's Innovator Of The Year
On Monday, Reynolds was one of the recipients for The Wall Street Journal’s Innovators of the Year. Other recipients of the award included rapper Lil Nas X.
Reynolds has gone from actor to entrepreneur in a pretty short period of time. Yes, he's a movie star and producer, but he also owns a gin, a mobile phone business, a multi-media firm, a football team, and a diversity project, to name a few. Reynolds isn’t expected to stop there as he continually grows his business empire.
Before arriving back in the U.S. for the WSJ event, Reynolds was in Wales with Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney. It was his first time to visit since taking over the club last year.
