Rumor: Michael Keaton will Return as The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel

News had just dropped that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to join the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel as Mysterio, but it's possible that we'll be having a familiar villain coming back for the movie.

According to Variety, Michael Keaton will be coming back to reprise the role of Adrian Toomes a.k.a. The Vulture in the sequel. Since his character didn't die, it would make sense for him to come back. Not to mention, his mid-credits scene did tease the formation of the Sinister Six.

With Spider-Man probably having the most memorable rogues gallery in the MCU, it's a good move that Marvel didn't kill off all of his villains in Homecoming. Every Spidey villain ended up dead in the five Spider-Man movies pre-Homecoming, so it's kind of refreshing that Spider-Man actually saved the villain in the last movie as compared to watching him die.

With Mysterio and Vulture said to appear in this sequel, I'm getting the feeling that we're going to see the Sinister Six assemble way sooner than expected. Sony was planning a movie before they scrapped the Amazing Spider-Man universe, so it won't be too farfetched that they would team-up in this next movie instead.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is slated for a release on July 5, 2019.
