Matt Reeves' Batman Movie More Likely to Come out in 2021

With news that Matt Reeves has finished the script for The Batman and the photos of Ben Affleck looking in shape online, a lot of people were hopeful that we would be getting the solo Batman movie sooner than later. Now rumor has come out that we could be looking at a release at 2021 at the latest.

As per Revenge of the Fans, Reeves is aiming to start production late 2019, and though that could be the best time to start for a 2020 release, sources say that the film has a better chance of coming out in 2021. No specifics have been released about the possible delay, but I'm guessing it might be a more strategic choice.

2019 will see the release of two DC films Shazam! and Joker, with Wonder Woman 1984 joining the 2020 slate with Birds of Prey. If DC is aiming for a ‘two movies a year' format then a 2021 release could make The Batman and The Flash come out in the same year.

Besides those films, we also have movies like Green Lantern Corps, New Gods, Blackhawk,Nightwing, Supergirl, Cyborg, and Batgirl in the backburner. None of those films have release dates as of now, but we do know they're in development in one way or another. It's just a matter of time when DC will be able to find release windows that are convenient for their cinematic universe.

Personally, I hope that The Batman comes to us sooner rather than later. We don't want Affleck to keep changing his mind before cameras start rolling.

No official release date has been set for The Batman.
