Rumor: Chris Pine is Playing the 'Real' Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984

There is a lot of chatter regarding Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman. Fans are excited to see Gal Gadot return as Diana, whilst also hoping Kristen Wiig does a bang-up job as Cheetah, one of Wonder Woman's most well-known villains. However, one constant subject that has proven to be popular is Chris Pine's return.

Is he one of the late Steve Trevor's relatives? Maybe his great-nephew like Sharon Carter was to Peggy Carter in Captain America: Winter Soldier? According to this supposed leaker, neither is the case and we could be looking at the real Steve Trevor.

DanielRPK, who previously stated that Pedro Pascal's character could be a God in disguise, has said that the character Chris Pine will be playing is the real Steve Trevor. He didn't state why this would be the case or how he survived a plane explosion, so fans may want to take this with a grain of salt.

Hypothetically, if Steve Trevor does survive it would cause plenty of controversy. While superhero media has done revivals plenty of times, Trevor's death was one of the best scenes from the first film and debunking that this early might tick off some fans.

A similar argument could be made for Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avengers but since the character survived a fall off a cliff and became the Winter Soldier. Here's hoping the writers have a decent excuse if this ends up being true.

It's worth noting that Patty Jenkins shared Pine's first official photo on the sequel and wrote "Welcome to Wonder Woman 1984, Steve Trevor!" which is a big hint. Did Jenkins already spoil the fact that Trevor is alive? We'll have to wait and see.

Wonder Woman 1984 comes out on November 1, 2019.
