Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's attendance at King Charles' coronation had been a topic of discussion for months.
Buckingham Palace had already confirmed Prince Harry would attend the event solo, and a royal expert claimed that the members of the firm made sure his wife would skip the event.
Royal Family Delighted Meghan Markle Would Skip Coronation, Expert Claims
British journalist Tom Bower weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attendance at King Charles' crowning. Prince Harry will attend the event while Markle and their two children — Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1— will remain in California.
According to him, the royals made several conditions to ensure Markle would choose to stay in her and Prince Harry's $14 million mansion in Montecito.
Bower told Page Six he believed "everyone's delighted she's not coming."
He added:
"They made sure that she wasn't going to come by making sure that she was told she'd have to curtsy three times, that she wouldn't be in the spotlight, that she wouldn't play any part in the whole thing and that if she came, they'd be put in row 54 in the back behind the column."
The Revenge author said the same thing when he joined Dan Wootton on GB News. According to him, Markle is a Californian who didn't want to curtsy to Queen Consort Camilla, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Bower claimed:
"Her presence, I thought was never likely because she doesn't want to be in Britain. She doesn't want to be part of the royal family. She's a Californian. She doesn't want to curtsy to the Queen. She never wants to curtsy to Kate or to Sophie that was very important."
Meghan Markle Shut Down Speculations About Coronation Attendance
The former actress' decision not to join her husband at her father-in-law's coronation sparked various speculations. Some claimed she was avoiding the British public as she might get booed.
Others claimed that the Sussexes' demands were not met, so she decided to stay at home. However, her rep denied one particular speculation relating to her correspondence with the King.
A report from The Telegraph claimed that she sent King Charles a letter over "unconscious bias" within the royal household. It was reportedly a response after His Majesty expressed his sadness over the tension within their family after the Sussexes' interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they claimed that there were "concerns and conversations" within the royals family about how dark their unborn child's skin color would be.

There were speculations that she was avoiding the King due to the letter. Markle's rep clarified her decision to stay in California had nothing to do with it.
Her rep told People:
"The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous. We encourage tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating."
