Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: Did Mads Mikkelsen Just Confirm A Major Fan Theory?

Earlier this year, Mads Mikkelsen accidentally revealed that he's playing Galen Erso, the father of Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso, and now he might have just confirmed one of the biggest fan theories about the film.

During a talk with the RadioTimes, the Danish actor said that he could say very little about the role, but it looks like he slipped a hint that might have revealed the purpose of his character.

"He's the father of our main character Felicity Jones, and at the same time he is a scientist," said. "And then uh, if people have watched the other films I'm sure they can add two and two."

Mikkelsen might have confirmed the longstanding theory about Jyn Ero's connection to the Death Star and why she was chosen to steal its plans, ahead of more qualified rebels. This could explain why Jyn Erso might have intimate knowledge about the capabilities of the Death Star.

In some way, Mikkelsen's scientist could be behind the creation of the deadliest space station.

It seems that Mikkelsen's habit of leaking spoilers is not new. He told Radiotimes:

"Quite a while ago, I did do a comic-con where I signed somebody's Star Wars poster," the actor recalled. And it was just released I was in the film, so he was the only one with a Star Wars thing for me. And I signed it, and I put on my characters name. Then, a lot of phone calls came in. The thing is that the focus on the films has been tremendous. Meaning, if you make a film back home, yeah, people are curious, but they don't necessarily think we're gonna say anything, because that's how it is, people have to see the film.

Whereas with the Marvel universe and the Star Wars universe, people feel as if they own it, it's part of the family, they want to know everything now before they see it. So it's more the anticipation that's been different to if you make a Danish film." "

The Doctor Strange and Hannibal actor is notorious for playing villains, and even though he's not playing a villain in Rogue One, it seems like his character could be largely responsible for creating the Death Star.
