Robert Pattinson Says Working on The Batman is Like Twilight All Over Again

It's no secret that Robert Pattinson fans are hoping that people would simply forget about Twilight and appreciate the actor's new role as the Caped Crusader in The Batman. However, it looks like Pattinson himself isn't quite ready to move on. The Devil All The Time star just admitted that working on the DC Extended Universe flick was like being a part of the Twilight franchise all over again.

Pattinson recently spoke to Total Film where he discussed what it was like to play a legendary character like Batman (via Digital Spy). Interestingly, the actor compared the thrill of becoming Bruce Wayne to the pressure he felt when he was cast as Edward Cullen.

"I weirdly enjoyed it during Twilight, the idea that you can mess it up. I guess I felt confident. I wanted to be on the big stage," Pattinson said. He then continued by explaining how The Batman will be different from other movies.

"There's a slightly different feeling when you know loads and loads of people are going to watch something you're working on. It's not an origin tale, and you're meeting him in the early days," Pattinson said. "And for me, what's really important about this iteration is that you know a lot of the other stories are about how he had to master his fear and master himself in order to become Batman. And that in that Batman state, he's sort of in his best self."

In conclusion, Pattinson stated that he is hoping fans will enjoy The Batman as the movie that focuses more on Bruce's detective skills rather than being just a superhero.

"I hope what's different about what we're doing is try and do it in exactly that sort of manner and then of course the other things that are from the earlier history of the context of him being the world's greatest detective and how we got there," he said.

There is little doubt that both Batman and Edward are icons in their own right and if Pattinson has the same feeling about the Dark Knight as the popular vampire, there's a good chance his performance is going to be something to look forward to.

The Batman is currently in production.
