Recently, Robert or "Bob" Dielmann was featured on the American documentary reality series from A&E titled Hoarders, an ongoing series that debuted back in August 2009.

The show, Hoarders, depicts how people in the real world struggle and find treatment for suffering from and dealing with compulsive hoarding disorder.

In this case, we not only get to see Bob in a new light but how the artist restored the Dielmann-Kaiser house all these years.

But before we dig deeper into what Robert Dielmann had to do with the reality show, Hoarders, here's more about the restoration artist's identity.

Unfortunately, there is little to no information about Robert online.

He is, however, a fine artist and sculptor who was known to have spent over forty years researching the history of the Kaiser family and its St. Louis neighborhood in an attempt to bring back its original colors to life.

Bob shared during his appearance in Season 15 Episode 2 that he had been drawing since he was three years old, "graduating" from crayons as early as six. He began with oil painting since then.

He also happened to have grown up with his grandfather, who was a portrait painter. Bob's mother would have his grandfather come over every weekend to bond with him and paint with oil, a hobby he continues to keep as he decorated the Dielmann-Kaiser House with his paintings.

And now, here's the short story of how and why he restored the Dielmann-Kaiser house in St. Louis.

How the Artist Restored the Dielmann-Kaiser House

Located at 3841 South Broadway in St. Louis, the three-story Victorian home otherwise known as the Dielmann-Kaiser House was built in 1873 as a wedding present for Antoinette T. Kaiser.

The House was once occupied by the Kaiser family, until Robert purchased the property back in the 1970s, when his journey to restore the house began.

Apart from spending over forty years fixing the house, Washington University students helped him recall how the original colors of the Dielmann-Kaiser building were.

The most that Robert Dielmann offers about the importance of restoration and preservation is this: he admits that it's getting harder to keep "old" things around, especially since the younger generations are not as interested in antiques.

On the other hand, Robert finds that restoring the house was something "he had to do" before he got "too old." It was his driving passion, and why he "wanted to save it" himself.
