Rob Liefeld Says X-Force Movie Would Have Been More About Cable Than Deadpool

It seems like the X-Force movie that 20th Century Fox was planning to develop for the Deadpool film franchise would have focused more on Cable (Josh Brolin) than on the Merc with a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds).

Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld just recently sat down in an interview with Collider to talk about Marvel movies, and during the discussion with the publication, the comic book writer revealed some interesting details about Fox's planned X-Force movie.

"Cable should have his own movie series. He can exist independent of Deadpool in a heartbeat. He has for years. If Deadpool's been in like 330 comics, Cable's been in about 520," Liefeld told the entertainment news outlet, "Yes, I've counted…. In between Deadpool 2 wrapping and opening, I got really close with Josh. And he was very excited about exploring Cable in the subsequent sequels. The X-Force standalone movie that was, in his own words, Cable-centric."

Sure, Ryan Reynolds might have a lot of charm as Deadpool, but Josh Brolin commanded attention when he was Cable in Deadpool 2. It doesn't sound surprising that Fox would want X-Force to focus on the Marvel star.

While Marvel has yet to announce its plans for Deadpool and the rest of 20th Century Fox's mutant heroes, Brolin recently told that he would love to appear as Cable again, even if it means that he would have two roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – one as the Mad Titan Thanos, and the other as Nathan Summers.

Let's wait and see what Marvel wants to do with Deadpool, Cable, and all the others under Fox.
