Rob Liefeld Gives Bill Maher Comic Book Recommendations After Superhero Movie Rant

People are still seething after Bill Maher once again went after comic book culture in a recent episode of Real Talk with Bill Maher. However, Rob Liefeld doesn't have any bad things to say about the host. Instead, he has some recommendations that might change Maher's mind about graphic novels.

Liefeld took to Twitter to respond to Maher's rant about comic book fans refusing to grow up. The Deadpool creator offered some selected reading material for the Politically Incorrect comedian. Check out his tweet below.

"Hey @billmaher appreciate your point of view, I'd like to suggest comics written by Alan Moore or Frank Miller. The writing and storytelling is outstanding," Liefeld wrote. "Watchmen, Swamp Thing, Dark Knight Returns and any Frank Miller Daredevil are gold standards of illustrated literature."

Several fans immediately chimed in with their own suggestions. Some pointed out that Maher should try Garth Ennis' Preacher or Maus by Art Spiegelman. However, others simply pointed out that Maher shouldn't have dragged Stan Lee into his rant. A few also suggested that the comedian mocked fans who see Lee's works as great literature.

Maher clarified his statement about Lee, saying that he wasn't disrespecting the Marvel icon but rather pointing out that comic book fans are refusing to grow up. He even mentioned director Kevin Smith, who had defended Lee and the culture.

Interestingly, Liefeld mentioned Watchmen in his tweet. The graphic novel is set for a live-action series adaptation that will premiere on HBO, the same network that airs Maher's show.
