Rian Johnson Believes Luke's Actions in The Last Jedi Are 100% True to His Character

The amazing thing about Star Wars: The Last Jedi is that almost a year after its release, people still get into passionate arguments about the movie online. While there is a lot of talk about how Luke's character arc was handled, Rian Johnson believes that he wrote Skywalker 100 percent true to his character in the Original Trilogy.

Interjecting a heated argument on Twitter about an argument on whether Luke was staying true to himself, Johnson writes:

While some people think that Luke was cowardly to move to Ach-To and hide from everyone, Johnson had said before that in Luke's mind, this was the brave thing to do. His choice was done so that he could end the Jedi, and though he hated having to sever all his connections with Leia and Han, he had to do it to keep the galaxy safe—by ending the Jedi with himself.

Though it may look like The Last Jedi had split the fandom in two, hard numbers prove that the movie was better received by fans than it actually seems. It's just the case of the haters being a lot louder online. It also doesn't help that a lot of sites like to milk the idea that ‘TLJ ruined Star Wars' and that everyone is wanting a ‘course correction' on the franchise.

There's also something about Russian bots doing most of the trolling, but you get the idea.

Personally, I'm hoping that J.J.Abrams sticks to Johnson's decisions and brings something new to the table as compared to ‘giving fans what they want' like Snoke's backstory or a sudden reveal that Rey is of a significant bloodline.
