Red Dead Redemption 2 Is A Prequel To The First Game

Rockstar has finally released the new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer and it is amazing. While we don't get a release date, the editing of the video is superb and puts other movie teasers to shame. Visually, it is gorgeous and gives fans plenty to be excited about when it presumably comes out next year.

And yes, like the rumors stated, the sequel is actually a prequel.

The game's playable protagonist is Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang who rob, fight and do whatever they want in the Wild West. Considering how the first Red Dead Redemption took place in the dying days of the era, it only makes sense that the setting of the prequel will still have the era in its heyday.

While he didn't appear in the trailer, fans are hoping to see a young John Marston in the game. Marston was the lead in the first game and actually had to take down his old gang, which made for an engaging storyline. Seeing a younger version of the character should make him a bit more interesting.

Aside from the lack of a release date, the only other disappointing part of the trailer was gameplay. Considering how everything was rendered with the game's graphics engine, it was hard to tell which parts were actual gameplay. Then again, with a Spring 2018 release, there is plenty of time for Rockstar to show off Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will come to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
