With the film finally screening in US cinemas, Crunchyroll recently shared an impressive Suzume mural that recreates the film’s iconic door in real life.

It’s not just a painted door though as it’s an actual door that people can open. Though you won’t be able to travel to the Ever-After through it.

Specifically, Crunchyroll shared a cool behind-the-scenes timelapse of the mural’s creation to promote the film.

But even with no extra promotion, Suzume is already a hit at the box office.

Makoto Shinkai's latest film opened in US cinemas on April 14. And during its opening weekend, Suzume earned over USD 5 million at the US box office.

This means the film ranked seventh in the weekend’s box office tally.

While this may not seem high when compared to the likes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie or superhero films, it’s still a success for an anime movie.

Plus, the film has met its targets as Sony has projected that the film will earn USD 5 million in the US during its opening weekend.

Even without factoring in US sales, Suzume is already a massive hit globally.

For instance, it has earned JPY 14 billion (around USD 104 million) in Japan, making it the country’s 10th highest-grossing film of all time.

Suzume is also a huge hit in neighboring countries China and South Korea. In China, Suzume is the top-selling Japanese film of all time.

Meanwhile, it also has the most tickets sold for a Japanese film in South Korea.

Currently, the film’s worldwide box office numbers make it the fourth highest-grossing Japanese film in history.

In the US, Europe, and other selected regions, Suzume is distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Crunchyroll.

So, it’s no surprise that Crunchyroll is spearheading the film’s promotion in the US.

While there have been many promotions, this new mural with a real-life door is definitely a highlight, making it a must-see for fans of the film. Check it out here:

However, it seems that this door was made for online promotion, so it might not be in a public place for fans to take photos of.

But here’s hoping it does get shown somewhere in public as it’s a cool photo spot for Shinkai fans.

Suzume is now screening in cinemas across the US.
