What Is The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master All About?
Also known as Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai, The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master is based on a manga by Chisato Abe. Abe is a novel and manga writer best known for her Yatagarasu series.
The yatagarasu are mythical crows encountered in Shinto mythology.
Inspired by these tales, Abe has penned works with crow-human shapeshifters.
The novel series has two parts which have both been adapted into manga.
The first volume is titled Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai, and it received a manga adaptation that ran from 2018 to 2020.
Interestingly, the anime in question will be based on the second novel and manga series.
In it, a shapeshifting boy named Yukiya is chosen to serve the prince and must navigate life in the treacherous imperial court.
While very little is known about it so far, The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master seems like an exciting title for fans of folklore-inspired, pseudo-historical fantasy works.
