It's been a long-standing argument amongst fans which Star Wars trilogy is better: the originals, the prequels, or the sequels, and while it may go down as a matter of preference to some fanatics of the Skywalker saga, others can't help but nitpick and criticize specific episodes from the franchise just to prove their point. Disney's sequel trilogy which ran from 2015 to 2019 is no stranger to the occasional criticism and if you'd ask Grammy award-winning rapper Kanye West, who's apparently a George Lucas purist, he thinks the sequels absolutely suck.

In a recent interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Kanye, who is ultra-passionate about everything pop culture claimed that the prequel trilogy is way better than Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. In fact, according to him, he's watched Revenge of the Sith multiple times during the pandemic and that alone says a lot about his sentiments. He said: "And this is about to make me mad, right here, the first time you've seen me get mad in an interview. They said that George Lucas' prequels are worse than the corporate-made Disney Star Wars. Revenge of the Sith? We saw how Darth Vader was made! I watched that like 10 times during COVID. 'Don't jump Anakin, I've got the high ground!'.... I'm saying even the prequels are better than anything… and I'm sorry Disney/Star Wars design team. No man, this is George. This is his baby. That thing was set in his heart to show us as children the hero's journey."

Of course, as much as Kanye would like to stir the pot in the fandom and cause some controversy, his "hot take" on the sequels isn't as "unpopular" as he thinks it is. I mean, come on, it's no secret that longtime fans of the saga have mixed feelings about the trilogy but that's not to say that the series, led by Daisy Ridley wasn't serviceable. I personally thought it was good overall, all things considered, but hey, I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea and I am totally fine with that.
