Queen Elizabeth is very close to the members of the royal family. However, one of the female royals not directly related to her is closest to her heart and she's neither Kate Middleton nor Meghan Markle.

Queen Elizabeth II's Favorite Royal Identified

Queen Elizabeth II loves every member of the royal family, and she has been supportive of them. However, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is extra special to Her Majesty.

According to royal experts, the Queen's favorite royal is Sophie, and Her Majesty loves the countess because of how she manages her royal husband, Prince Edward.

The Queen acknowledges Sophie's dedication. Her Majesty knows that her son is not easy to handle, but Sophie manages it.

Also, of all Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's four children, only Prince Edward's first marriage works. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, played a significant role in making their union last.

Prince Edward's older siblings Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew, are all divorced. Prince Charles and Princess Diana's marriage didn't work. The Prince of Wales is now happily married to Camilla Parker Bowles.

Princess Anne was previously married to Mark Phillips from 1973 to 1992. She's now married to Timothy Laurence. Prince Andrew was also previously married to Sarah Ferguson. The Duke and Duchess of York have remained friends and unmarried following their divorce.

Queen Elizabeth II has been spotted in multiple outings with Sophie. In 2018, Queen attended a church service at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate with Sophie. Also, another insider said Sophie is the Queen's mainstay support to keep Her Majesty from loneliness following Prince Philip's death.

Queen Elizabeth Bent A Rule For Sophie But Not Princess Diana, Sarah Ferguson

Royal girlfriends had never been allowed to stay with their royal boyfriends in the palace. However, the Queen bent this rule for Sophie by allowing her to stay in the palace even before their engagement.

"That Edward should wish to have his girlfriend beside him as much as possible was perfectly natural," Ingrid Seward wrote in her book Prince Edward. "That the Queen should allow it to happen under her roof marked a significant change in attitude and approach. Both Sarah and Diana had moved into the Palace, but not until they were formally engaged."

The Queen also gave Meghan Markle a favor that Kate Middleton didn't enjoy. Her Majesty allowed the Duchess of Sussex to celebrate Christmas with them even before she married Prince Harry. Normally, royal fiancees are not allowed to spend the holidays with the royals.
