Queen Elizabeth was one of the most respected members of the royal family. As the monarch, other royals looked up to her. But outside of her royal duties, she was well-loved by the members of the royal family, as well as by those who support the British monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth And Tom Cruise Were Reportedly Friends

Before she passed away, Queen Elizabeth reportedly forged a budding friendship with Tom Cruise. According to Page Six, the two were supposed to meet for lunch, but it never pushed through because the then-monarch had already passed away.

The queen and Cruise’s friendship reportedly started last summer, and the two really hit it off. The Mission: Impossible actor was also one of the guests at the queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

Queen Elizabeth Invited Tom Cruise For A Special Tour Of Windsor Castle?

However, the queen was unable to meet Cruise at the time because she was dealing with some mobility issues that prevented her from attending some of the programs and activities at her Jubilee.

“The Queen let it be known that she was really disappointed not to have met Tom at the pageant, so he was invited to have a special tour of Windsor Castle with everything laid on for him. Afterward, just the two of them had tea together. She loved seeing him and they really hit it off, so much so that she invited him back for lunch. He was even allowed to fly in by helicopter,” the source said.

Cruise also had so much love and respect for the queen. Prior to the Platinum Jubilee, the actor said that he admires Her Majesty.

“She’s just a woman that I greatly admire. I think she is someone who has tremendous dignity and I admire her devotion. What she has accomplished has been historic,” he said.

Royal Author Claims King Charles Described Queen Elizabeth As Cold And Aloof

Meanwhile, the queen also made headlines last week following the release of The King: The Life of King Charles III by Christopher Andersen. According to the royal author, King Charles had a lonely childhood. He also said that King Charles previously described his mother, the queen, as cold and aloof.

“So much about Charles you could really trace back to his childhood, which was heartbreakingly lonely. Charles has described his relationship with his mother [by saying] that she was cold and aloof, that his father was a bully who hectored him, who made him cry in front of other people, physically bullied him,” he said (via Yahoo! News).

According to Andersen, King Charles did not spend much time with his parents while he was growing up.

“I think it’s very telling that Charles only spent as a boy … two 15-minute periods a day [with his parents]. When he had a tonsillectomy, when he had a very bad case of the flu, when he fell down the stairs and broke his ankle, and when he had an emergency appendectomy at the age of 13, neither his mother nor his father visited him at the hospital,” Andersen wrote.
