Queen Camilla Will Be Crowned Alongside King Charles During Their Coronation At Westminster Abbey

As the new queen consort and king of Britain, Camilla and Charles will be a joint coronation, which will most likely be held at Westminster Abbey. As of writing, the date of King Charles’ coronation has not yet been announced, but according to reports, it will take a couple of months before the official ceremony takes place.

Since Queen Camilla is the wife of the sovereign, she will also have a coronation ceremony of her own. However, it wouldn’t be separate from King Charles. This simply means that when King Charles is crowned, Queen Camilla will also be crowned.

King Charles Will Wear The Imperial State Crown, While Queen Camilla Will Wear A Smaller Version Of The Crown

For the ceremony, King Charles will wear the Imperial State Crown. And his wife will wear a smaller and more delicate version of the same crown.

According to Newsweek, Queen Camilla will follow in the footsteps of Queen Alexander, Queen Mary, and the Queen Mother, who each had new crowns made for their coronation. Their crowns featured paste gems instead of the precious stones from the original crowns.

It’s unclear if Queen Camilla will have a new crown made. This will only be possible if the one used by the Queen Mother is too small for her. The crown in question is currently on display at the Tower of London together with the other jewelry from Queen Elizabeth’s Crown Jewels.

Following their coronation, royal fans could see Queen Camilla wearing a crown when she attends the State Opening of Parliament next year.

King Charles, Queen Camilla Sat On Their Thrones Together For The First Time This Week

Royal fans already caught a glimpse of what it would be like moving forward with King Charles and Queen Camilla sitting on their thrones following their recent proclamation.

The royal couple already sat on their thrones at Westminster Abbey on Monday when King Charles addressed the members of the Parliament and the House of Lords following Queen Elizabeth’s death.

“As I stand before you here today I cannot help but feel the weight of history, which surrounds us and which reminds us of the vital parliamentary traditions. While very young, her late majesty pledged herself to serve her country and her people and to maintain the precious principles of constitutional government which lie at the heart of our nation. This vow, she kept with unsurpassed devotion. She set an example of selfless duty, which with God’s help and your counsel’s, I am resolved faithfully to follow,” King Charles said (via Page Six).
