The production company behind Song Hye Kyo’s The Glory is not enjoying the same amount of success as the Kdrama series.

Netflix released The Glory’s first half on its platform on Dec. 30. The Ahn Gil Ho-directed series explores the story of a high school student who wants to be an architect but gets bullied by her fellow students. She drops out of high school and plans revenge on the perpetrators and people who fail to help her.

After graduating from college and receiving her teaching certification, she becomes the homeroom teacher of her bully’s child.

Although it only released its first part so far, The Glory immediately savored success. However, its production company did not.

The Glory’s Production Company Studio Dragon Sees Decrease in Stocks

Before its release, Hankook Kyeongjae (via Naver) revealed that the production house, Studio Dragon, saw a whopping decrease in sales.

From its original 83,800 KRW, its stock price decreased by -2.56 percent from the previous day. The company’s subsidiary, Hwa & Dam Pictures, released the K-drama with an expectation that it would see a 10 percent increase in stock.

For two consecutive days, the stock continued to suffer from a significant dip.

Although it happened on the same day as The Glory’s release, it did not have something to do with the Kdrama.

The publication noted that the stock price decreased following China’s ban on South Korea’s content.

“We must assume that the law of Korean content ban is still in effect until these contents are confirmed to be aired in China,” a source told the news outlet.

The Glory Dominates Netflix

Although it did not air in China, The Glory did well globally that it immediately debuted at No. 5 on Netflix’s worldwide TV series ranking two days after its release.

FlixPatrol revealed that Song Hye Kyo’s Kdrama set the record on Jan. 1. It also secured the top spot on Netflix TV series ranking in 10 countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Qatar, Singapore, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.

It also ranked second in Hong Kong, Oman, Maldives, and Japan, and No. 4 in Sri Lanka, Kuwait, and Bangladesh.
