Prince William Reportedly Gifted Kate Middleton A Rose Gold Ring That She Wore For Many Years

According to reports, Prince William already showed Kate Middleton that he was committed to her even while they were still studying at the university. After all, the dad of three gave his then-girlfriend a rose gold ring with a hidden meaning.

The Princess of Wales wore the ring on her left middle finger for many years. And she was also photographed wearing the piece of jewelry when she graduated from the university.

According to Cheat Sheet, the rose gold ring that Prince William gave Middleton featured pearls and garnets, which was symbolic because the Prince of Wales' birthstone is a pearl, and Middleton's birthstone is garnet.

Express also claimed that garnets are traditionally known as commitment stones, which added an extra layer of meaning to Prince William's choice of gift for Middleton.

Years later, the Prince of Wales passed on Princess Diana's blue sapphire ring to Middleton when they got engaged.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Talked About Their Split

During their joint engagement interview, Prince William revealed that he and Middleton split briefly while they were still at the university.

"We did split up for a bit, but that was just, we were both very young, it was at university, and we were both sorts of defining ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff. It was trying to find our way, and we were growing up," he said.

Middleton also chimed in, saying that she wasn't happy to end her relationship with Prince William then. But over the years, she realized that they needed a break to strengthen their relationship.

"I at the time wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person. You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realized — I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you're younger — and I really valued that time for me, as well," she said (via People).

Prince William and Middleton tied the knot on April 29, 2011.
