Prince Harry Has To Reconcile With His Mom Princess Diana's Death, According To A Royal Biographer

Royal biographer Andrew Morton weighed in on Prince Harry's relationship with the media. Meghan Markle's husband has spoken about the impact of Princess Diana's death on him and how he felt about the press.

Morton believed that King Charles' youngest son has to work on reconciling with his mother's death to improve his relationship with the press.

"I don't think a day goes by where Harry doesn't either make a decision based on what happened to his mother or reflect on his mother," Morton said Royally Us podcast, Express reported.

"The fact that they first of all flew to Canada and then down to the West Coast was down to Harry's desire to protect his wife and his son, and as he said, he didn't want what happened to his mother to happen to his wife, he was fearful of that."

The author of the 1992 book Diana: Her True Story gave Prince William's brother a piece of unsolicited advice — reconcile with what happened to his mom.

"I mean, there's no way until he's reconciled to what happened to his mother, I think that the anger issues that he's faced and the hostility that he has to the media will never go away," Morton added.

What Did Prince Harry Say About The Press?

Prince Harry did not hide his distaste toward the British tabloid in previous interviews, even branding them "toxic." He also claimed that they created a "really difficult" environment for him and his wife.

In the Apple TV+ series The Me You Can't See, he opened up about his struggles following Princess Diana's death. Prince Harry admitted to turning to drugs and alcohol for years to mask his feelings.

"I was so angry with what happened to her (Diana) and the fact there was no justice at all... the same people that chased her through that tunnel photographed her dying on the back seat of that car," he said.

"The clicking of cameras, and the flash of cameras makes my blood boil. It makes me angry. It takes me back to what happened to my mum, what I experienced as a kid."

Prince Harry Reportedly Treated Royal Rota Rudely

Prince William's sibling did not exert effort in working with the royal rota that accompanied him and Meghan Markle during their royal trip to  Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga in October 2018. Valentine Low, who was part of the royal rota, shared some details in his new book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown.

According to him, they were informed that Prince Harry would address them during the five-hour flight from Tonga to Sydney as part of the "standard part of the royal tour." However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared before the plane landed, and Prince Harry was allegedly rude to them.

He "looked like a sulky teenager, forced against his will to talk to some unwelcome visitors," Low wrote.

"[Harry] sounded rushed, as if he couldn't wait to get back into the first-class cabin, away from the media," he added.

Low also shared Prince Harry's words that, raised eyebrows among the royal reporters.

"'Thanks for coming', he told the assembled press pack, 'even though you weren't invited,'" Low claimed in his tome. "Even for a man who has a deep mistrust of the press, this was spectacularly rude - and incorrect. The media very much had been invited to cover the tour."
