Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship is still strained as the former celebrates his milestone birthday. The Duke of Cambridge is in a good place career-wise and family-wise. However, his relationship with his sibling, who used to be his partner in crime, has remained "at rock bottom," according to a report.
Prince William Is Grieving And Angry About What Prince Harry Has Done
Daily Mail's royal correspondent Rebecca English spoke to the royal brothers' friends ahead of Prince William's birthday. The future king is celebrating his 40th birthday today.
The majority of the things in Prince William's life are in place. He is enjoying a happy marriage with Kate Middleton, has healthy children, and his relationship with his father, Prince Charles, has since improved. The only concern was his fractured bond with his younger brother, Prince Harry.
According to a pal, whom English spoke to, Prince William has mixed emotions toward his younger brother.
"He alternates between grieving for what he has lost and feeling really, really angry about what his brother has done," one told English.
"He truly loves Harry and feels he has lost the only person, aside from his wife, who understood this strange life of theirs. But he believes there are things you just don't do. And Harry has 100 percent crossed that line."
Another source said that the future king has been very protective of Prince Harry. However, he also has a "very low tolerance of people being disrespectful about him." Despite that, the source believed that Prince William would "keep the door open" for his younger brother, considering how tight their bond was. Many are hoping that Prince William and Prince Harry will eventually reconcile.
What Caused A Strain In Prince William And Prince Harry's Relationship
According to the sources with whom English had the chance to speak, the second in line to the throne doesn't like what his brother has been doing, especially the televised interviews where he spoke about their family issues.
"William is also very principled and believes Harry has crossed a line. He's thrown accusation after accusation, knowing that silence is the family's only option because it doesn't want to get dragged into a public slanging match," the source added.
Prince Harry seemingly criticized Prince Charles' parenting when he said that he wanted to have another approach when it came to rearing his own children. He also shared that the Prince of Wales stopped answering his calls after he stepped down from his royal duties and even cut him off financially.
The Duke of Sussex also claimed that his brother, Prince William, and father, Prince Charles, were trapped in the system. He said he was lucky that he was able to leave.
The source added that Prince William witnessed how upset and hurt their father was with what his sibling did.
"William is absolutely allergic to drama, but Harry has ensured that the family laundry is being aired on a global scale," the tipster continued.
Royal expert Russell Myers spoke to Today Extra and confirmed that the two princes' relationship is still "strained in the extreme." He believed it would take time and a lot of work for them to eventually reconciled.
Myers also advised Prince Harry to stop doing TV interviews because if he continued to do so and slag his family every now and then, it would make the reconciliation more difficult.
