Prince Harry Said We're At The 'Mental Health Awakening'

In an interview with Fast Company magazine, Prince Harry aired his support to those who boldly quit their jobs because they were already unhappy with their work. In the same interview, Prince Harry said that the struggles and issues about sticking to unhappy jobs have been brewing for years even before the pandemic.

"We’re just at the beginning of the mental health awakening," Prince Harry said. "This work has never been more important because people are finally paying attention, and a big component of this mission is building awareness and continuing to pioneer the conversation."

However, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti criticized the duke for his statement. According to him, even if Meghan Markle's husband has been outspoken about his personal battle and has sought help for his mental health it doesn't make him "qualified" to "pioneer the conversation."

"He talks of ‘the mental health awakening’ as if mental health and psychology are somehow new discoveries," Sacerdoti told Express. "He may personally be adjusting to a newfound awareness of mental illness and trying to achieve happiness, but his talk of wanting to ‘pioneer the conversation’ just sounds a bit flat. As far as I know, he isn’t qualified or trained in the field of psychology or psychotherapy."

Prince Harry Also Slammed By Netizens For His Statement

Many mistook Prince Harry's words as an encouragement to people to quit their jobs if they are no longer happy with it. In the interview, he said that many people are stuck in jobs that don't bring them joy. It raised some eyebrows because many couldn't afford to just quit their jobs for simply being unhappy with it.

"Will he pay our salaries when we quit? Asking for those of us who don’t have millions," one wrote. "He quits anything that is too hard, so it's not a surprise he endorses other quitters," another person commented.

Meanwhile, some also defended him. According to those netizens, Prince Harry wasn't encouraging the people to quit their jobs. He wasn't telling them what to do. Instead, he was only supporting those who left their jobs to prioritize their mental health.
