Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have to give up their royal titles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are allegedly using their ties to the royal family to be sensational.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Reportedly Burning Out Their Royal Status Pretty Fast

British writer and investigative journalist Tom Bower weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's titles. In his opinion, they may need to give it up because of their repeated attacks against the firm, especially with Prince Harry's memoir coming up.

"They're burning out their royal status pretty fast now," the author of the new book Revenge said on Palace Confidential on MailPlus. "I think they'll, in the end, have to give that up because it won't wash well."

He continued, "They are constantly searching for new things to do. But it always comes back to the royals. Whether it is flying back for the Jubilee so they might be photographed with the Queen - that went wrong. Or, alternatively, it is dumping on the Royal Family in Harry's forthcoming book. But eventually, it is going to be a damp squib."

Can Queen Elizabeth Strip Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Of Their Royal Title?

There have been numerous calls to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their dukedom titles.

Courtiers reportedly shared the same concern because Markle is "using her title out of context," according to The Sunday Times.

Markle has used her title while sharing her opinions as a private individual. She signed her letter to Congress lobbying for paid leave in the United States with Duchess of Sussex. She also did the same when she discussed with Gloria Steinem and Jessica Yellin abortion rights for Vogue after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Many requested the Queen to remove the dukedom titles from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, Her Majesty reportedly didn't have the power to do that.

"HRH [title] can be given or taken away by the monarch of the day," Dr. Morris of the Constitution Unit at University College London said, per Express. However, "it would require an Act of Parliament to remove the title."

Royal expert Professor Cele Otness said the title is "meaningless" outside the royal family and only confuses the public.

"If you're not involved in the Royal Family, and you can't use the HRH, and the Queen has said to you, ‘Fine, if you don't want to be involved, you're not involved," she told Express. "What does it mean? They call John Wayne ‘The Duke’ - that's what they call John Wayne. They called Elvis ‘The King.’ It's nickname you give yourself."

But Otness added that despite the title coming as "empty gestures," the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still "get some superficial benefit from it."
