Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to reveal whether they will attend King Charles III's coronation on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. But if the Sussexes are a no-show at the event, a royal expert believes it may cut the "final strand holding the family together."

Prince Harry and Meghan's rep confirmed they had received an invite from the palace to attend King Charles' coronation. But as the couple hasn't decided yet, a PR expert and Go Up's Chief Executive, Edward Coram-James, said their non-attendance may mean they're already "de-royaling themselves."

The Final Strand that Holds the Royal Family

Coram-James is convinced that the controversial royal couple's presence at the coronation is the final strand that holds the royal family together. So, if they don't come, they're taking the risk of cutting it off.

"It would make the Sussexes less relevant and thus less marketable to the public, so jeopardizing their careers," he told Express.

"From an optics point of view," the PR expert suggested that their absence "would appear petulant."

Though their non-existence at the event has a valid reason, Coram-James explained it would still have "very few avenues that could be gone down from a PR point of view."

"In which, the Sussexes would not come out looking ungrateful, aggressive, and unwilling to accept peace offerings or olive branches," he explained.

It might be seen as a "fatal, irreversible blow," especially for the royal family itself.

Prince Harry and Meghan's feud with the royal family has been going on for a while now, and their non-attendance may risk prolonging the conflict even more.

Meghan Markle's Valid Reason to Not Attend

In a statement, Prince Harry and Meghan's rep confirmed receiving an invite from King Charles' office about the crowning.

"I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the Coronation," the spokesperson said in a statement. However, an immediate decision wasn't announced yet.

The coronation will occur on May 6, the same day Prince Harry and Meghan's firstborn, Archie, will celebrate his fourth birthday.

Hence, royal expert Charles Rae told GB News the former Suits star has the "perfect excuse" not to show up at the crowning.

"So, it may well be that she'll stay behind and enjoy the celebrations with her son," he said.

It's also good to note that Prince Harry and Meghan's kids, Archie and Lilibet, reportedly don't receive an invite to King Charles' big day.
