Buckingham Palace finally confirmed Prince Harry's attendance at King Charles III's upcoming coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6. But despite his presence, he may not interact with the royal family or even have a role during the crowning.

Prince Harry would attend the historic event solo, as his wife, Meghan Markle, would stay in California with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Royal Family May Not Talk to Prince Harry

According to DailyMail's sources, the royal family has "no interest" in talking to the Duke of Sussex" besides the "most basic of greetings."

However, his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, with whom he has a close bond, are maybe an exception.

The Confirmation of Prince Harry's Attendance at the Coronation

After weeks of speculations, Buckingham Palace officially announced on Wednesday, April 12, that Prince Harry would attend King Charles' crowning without Meghan.

"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet," the announcement read.

The coronation coincides with the fourth birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan's firstborn son, Prince Archie.

That said, an insider claimed there's no way the Duchess of Sussex will miss her child's birthday.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Decision About the Coronation

Sources told Page Six that the Sussexes had sent "a list of questions" to Buckingham Palace, like their sitting and security arrangements.

However, the former actress still decided not to go after allegedly realizing her attendance would be "inauthentic" due to her icy relationship with her royal in-laws.

"They had to make a decision that felt genuine and authentic, especially after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down," an insider familiar with the family explained. "They care about their family, so Meghan is going to stay [in California], and Harry is going to support his dad."

Prince Harry's Role in the Coronation

So, what will be Prince Harry's role in the coronation? By the looks of it, nothing.

The military vet will only attend the event. Hence, he will not participate in other celebrations, like the procession after the service and the royal family's balcony appearance.

Royal reporter Omid Scobie seconded the claim in a post on Twitter.

"Expect it to be a fairly quick trip to the U.K. for Prince Harry, who will only be attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey," he wrote. After the ceremony, he's expected to leave while the rest of the royal family members go for a fancy walk.
