Prince Harry reportedly had a crush on Meghan Markle even before he met her in person, according to a royal author. When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met, they were reportedly "almost obsessed" with each other.

Prince Harry Said Meghan Markle Was His 'Ideal Girl,' Royal Biographer Claims

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly fell hard for each other. Their royal romance began in 2016, and they tied the knot two years later.

However, according to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, author of The New Royals, Prince Harry had already set his eyes on Markle after watching her hit series Suits, Express reported.

"He [Harry] had a crush on [Meghan's character] Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends," Nicholl said in Channel 4 documentary When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance.

Nicholl also claimed that Prince Harry called Markle his "ideal girl" two years before they met through a mutual friend.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Blind Date Revisited

The royal couple reportedly met on a blind date through Violet von Westenholz, Nicholl claimed in her 2019 book Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss, and Love. The pair had a blind date at London's Soho House.

Prince Harry was reportedly drawn to Markle's confidence and charisma. He was reportedly quietly seeing model Sarah-Ann Macklin but "they never hit it off." In contrast, he and Markle hit it off immediately.

"They just clicked and got on from the very meet-up. It was all very easy and natural from the start," a friend said about Prince Harry and Markle's first meeting during the blind date.

Following the blind date, the pair quickly arrange to see each other again. Their friend Markus Anderson arranged a discreet table at a private member's club for them, and they enjoyed their time and chatted for hours without any worry of being photographed because the place has a no camera policy.

The meeting made Prince Harry realize he had met someone special.

"So special, in fact that he invited her to join him in Botswana several weeks later. Harry has since said of the romance that 'all the stars have aligned and everything was just perfect,' and it was," Nicholl added.

According to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book Finding Freedom, they were too engrossed after their first encounter that they didn't notice their surroundings.

"Nibbles may have been out on the low table in front of their oversize chairs, but neither touched the food. They were also too engrossed in their conversation, and too involved with each other, to notice the rather rude wallpaper featuring photos of women's private parts that adorned the walls," the authors wrote, Express reported.

"No one expected what happened next. 'Almost immediately they were almost obsessed with each other,' a friend said."
