Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had maintained a good relationship with Queen Elizabeth until she passed away. The Duke of Sussex had maintained that he didn't blindside his grandmother, which could be true, but a royal expert claimed that he betrayed her.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke about their relationship with the royal family in Harry & Meghan Vol II. Netflix dropped the final three episodes of their docuseries Thursday.
They spoke about stories leaking about their plans to relocate and step back from their royal duties leading them to release a statement about their decision. There were speculations that they blindsided the Queen by making their exit announcement without informing her ahead, which Prince Harry strongly disputed.

"This idea that I supposedly blindsided my grandmother never happened. I have so much respect for her," Prince Harry said in an interview conducted before Her Majesty passed away on Sept. 8, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Prince William's brother added that the Queen was aware of their struggles at the time.
"She knew that we were finding things hard. I'd spoken to her many times about it," Harry added, referring to their royal life.
Prince Harry Betrayed Queen Elizabeth, Expert Claims
Royal expert Kylie Walters noticed a photo of the royal couple drinking tea inside Welsh Cottage taken during Lilibeth's birthday party in Vol. I. The Sussexes celebrated Lilibet's first birthday on the Windsor grounds because they were in the U.K. in June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. She believed the Queen had given them her permission to use it but not to film the place.
"It’s likely that the Queen gave them permission to use the playhouse for the milestone occasion, and the snap is from that day. It is the perfect venue to host a child’s party and the Queen would want to share her special place with Archie and Lili, who are rarely in the UK,” Walters told New Idea.
“While Meghan and Harry would have used the property with the Queen’s blessing, it would have been understood that this was a private event and it wouldn’t have expected that the Sussexes would use the day for profit.”
She noted that under the royal protocol, permission is needed to film and take photos in Windsor Castle and on the private grounds of Windsor Great Park, and she believed that the Sussex likely didn't have permission to film there for Netflix.

“The image was shared with the public when Harry and Meghan opened up their private photo albums as part of their docuseries with Netflix… Given that the Royal Family deny they were given ample opportunity to respond to the series, it seems unlikely that the Sussexes would have asked for permission to share the photo either.”
All six episodes of Harry & Meghan currently stream on Netflix.
