Prince Harry drew the ire of some members of the British public for not attending his grandfather Prince Philip's funeral but flying to the Netherland for the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex skipped the family event over a security row with the Home Office, but his decision to fly to the Hague was seen as an insult by some individuals who felt that Prince Harry feels much safer in another country than in England.

Prince Harry Angered British Journalist For Skipping Prince Philip's Memorial Service

TV host Patrick Christys expressed his anger toward Prince Harry on GB News. He weighed in on the Duke of Sussex's decision to not show up in the family event but still pushed with the Invictus Games.

"Prince Harry, I was very very angry about that, I was very angry they didn't come back for Prince Philips memorial service," Christys said, per Express. "I was very angry of course that he left the Queen there, yet again didn't he, sitting without her grandson. And I just thought it was an absolutely massive slap in the face, not just to our Royal Family but to us as a nation."

The journalist said many people felt that they have grown up with Prince Harry because they have seen him as a child. Those people cried with him when he was in tears and laughed with him during his happy times. So, for Christys, Prince Harry let those people down.

"Why did he not muster the courage to be able to come back, I think that's absolutely disgraceful and it's absolutely disgusting, if he thinks he's safe in Holland maybe he should just stay there," he added.

Prince Harry Would Likely Regret His Decision To Skipping Prince Philip's Memorial Service

Christys didn't agree that Prince Harry would be safer in The Hague than in Britain. He even quoted a senior police officer who was present at the event.

"Prince Harry would've been safer coming to Britain for his grandfather's memorial service than going to Holland for the Invictus Games in a fortnight," the TV presenter said. "That is according to the senior police officer who protected him and his mother."

Russell Myers, royal editor at the Daily Mirror, shared the same sentiment as Christys. According to him, Prince Harry would regret his decision and he heard that the duke, himself, told someone in the armed forces that he also think he would regret his decision.

"I know that there was someone in the armed forces, who was speaking quite eloquently after the service and knew Harry, said that he thought he would regret it as well," Myers said. "He’s going to be at the Invictus Games at The Hague, just a short – less than an hour – flight from here in the Netherlands in a couple of weeks. It just seems an absolutely bizarre decision to have made."
