Prince Charles Allegedly Wanted To Quit His Royal Duties Because The Media Intruded With His Personal Life

During a recent discussion, royal expert Russell Myers claimed to have heard the information about Prince Charles wanting to quit his royal duties from three unnamed individuals.

“That was one of the things I heard from three different people. This was really in the 1990s, at the height or depth of tabloid intrusion into his life, and Diana's. Since Prince Charles’ desire to leave his royal duties happened in the 90s, the rules with regard to the Order of Succession were also a bit different. Even though Princess Anne was born after Prince Charles, she wouldn’t have also been allowed to succeed Queen Elizabeth. Instead, the role as successor would’ve been passed on to Prince Andrew.

A similar incident happened decades ago when King Edward VIII abdicated from the throne so that he could be with the woman that he loved. His decision meant that his younger brother, George VI, was crowned as king following his abdication.

And since King George VI’s eldest child was Queen Elizabeth, the latter because the next monarch.
